In folklore traced back to medieval legend, a succubus (plural succubi) is a female demon appearing in dreams who takes the form of a human woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual intercourse. The male counterpart is the incubus. Religious traditions hold that repeated intercourse with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or even death.
In modern fictional representations, a succubus may or may not appear in dreams and is often depicted as a highly attractive seductress or enchantress; whereas, in the past, succubi were generally depicted as frightening and demonic

A very unique work that once again exceeds my ideas of an artistic nude.

We have several breaks with tradition: the monochrome toning, the extreme use of chiaroscuro technique; and the motion blur. The last is very intriguing because the use of motion blur on only a small section of the subject while the rest is sharply in focus is rarely done successfully. But it is here.

The lighting creates some interesting effects. We have the solid base of the floor - but only the slightest bit of contact with the subject. The silhouette on the floor is very intense - almost as though the shape is enveloped by a glow from within. Power perhaps?

The other lighting effect is the uncertainty created by the darkness. The edges are lost - and as we travel upward the darkness increases. Not what you would expect. And the only thing visible in the end is the motion - and that is merely suggested.

This is definitely a good portrayal of a succubus: the light drawing your attention in and the darkness confusing your escape from the spell. An outstanding collaboration between model and artist indeed.

These are the types of creations we all dream of creating - but here what we dream of is real. Excellent work and a great inspiration!

In some more dark variations of the Succubi tales, the creatures would consume the souls of the men they would bed, often in return for some gift.

Marvelously done
